Global Equities Sees Spike in Volatility as Traders are in Doubts on Dialogue Between U.S. and Russia

Asian equities plunged marginally as traders doubtful about diplomatic dialogue between U.S. and Russia.

France said its proposal for a summit was accepted in principle by Biden and Putin. U.S. officials said the meeting would only occur if Russia doesn’t invade Ukraine, while Russia has said repeatedly it has no plans to do so.

The CSI300, HSI, KOSPI, SET and TOPIX inched down by 0.36%, 0.65%, 0.03%, 1.01% and 0.71% respectively. MSCI broad market index ex Japan inched down by 0.96%.

The Dow Jones and S&P 500 futures are up by 0.09% and 0.02% respectively.

Crude oil futures are mixed with WTI down by 0.11% to $90.97 per barrel while Brent is up by 0.06% to $93.64 per barrel.
