GUNKUL Plans to Spinoff “Gunkul Power Development” to Efficiently Operate Big Projects

Mr. Somboon Aueatchasai, Chief Executive Officer of Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited (SET: GUNKUL), revealed through “Kaohoon” program on MCOT CH30, dated January 19, 2022, that the company is expecting to list its subsidiary; Gunkul Power Development Company Limited (GPD), in the Thai stock market by early next year.

 

GPD is a power plant constructor. The listing is to strengthen GPD’s operating efficiency in reserve for future big projects, such as projects from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand that will budget its 10-year investment plan worth 100 billion baht, including the transition of underground telephone cable, service line maintenance and floating solar.

Meanwhile, the spinoff will aim to support the new Power Development Plan (PDP) that will be focusing on net-zero carbon.

The company currently has 5,000 million baht worth of backlog. The share price closed the morning session on January 20, 2022, at Bt6.85 per share, increased Bt0.15 per share or 2.24% with a trading value of 661 million baht.
