Daily Strategy: FSSIA Expects Slight Gain in SET Index as Concerns on Fed Remain

Major stock markets in Asia traded in a mixed session, following a roller coaster session in Wall Street that finished lower yesterday.

Thailand’s SET Index opened at 1,638.41 points, increased 4.24 points or 0.26%.

As of 10:07 local time in Thailand, Nikkei jumped 2.10%, SSEC slipped 0.13%, Hang Seng Index dropped 0.57%, ASX 200 increased 2.09% and IDX Composite gained 0.073%.

Wall Street closed lower on Thursday in a roller coaster session after recording a gain of more than 600 points in intraday as investors still assessed the information from the U.S. Federal Reserve on the rate hike and QE tightening.

Dow Jones closed 0.02% lower, S&P 500 fell 0.54% and Nasdaq plunged 1.40%.

Mr. Suwat Sinsadok, Managing Director of FSS International Investment Advisory (FSSIA), through “Kaohoon Jor Talad Program” on January 28, 2022, stated that the market is still focusing on the Fed’s movement on rate hike and QE tightening as the Covid-19 outbreak is approaching an endemic within three months. Mr. Sinsadok recommended investors to focus on stocks that have growth potential and tourism stocks, expecting today’s movement in SET Index should finish in a range of 1,640-1,645 points.
