On Thursday, the share price of Energy Absolute Public Company Limited (SET: EA) at the time of 10.46 a.m. was at THB 2.82, a THB 0.08 or 2.92% increase with a total trading value of THB 71.51 million.
Meanwhile, the share price of NEX Point Public Company Limited (SET: NEX) at the same time was at THB 1.15, a THB 0.05 or 4.55% increase with a total trading value of THB 37.71 million.
Today’s rally came after a source from the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) revealed that Nakhonchaiair Company Limited is currently the lowest-priced bidder in the tender for the BMTA’s air-conditioned electric bus (EV) leasing project, totaling 1,520 units.
The project is being executed through the government’s electronic procurement system (e-bidding), with a reference price of THB 15,326,737,242. Although Nakhonchaiair has offered the lowest bid, the BMTA has not yet officially announced the winner, as the process is still under review in accordance with relevant procedures.
Nakhonchaiair, a leading public bus operator in Thailand, confirmed that on December 23, they submitted a bid for the BMTA’s electric bus production and assembly project via the e-bidding system. The company stated that if Nakhonchai Air wins the bid, NEX will be solely responsible for producing and assembling the electric buses for this project.
Noppadol Nimpatcharawut, CEO of Nakhonchaiair, stated that the company is confident in NEX’s capabilities as a strategic partner, especially its readiness in production, assembly, and electric vehicle technology under EA. If Nakhonchaiair wins the tender, NEX will be appointed as the sole producer and assembler of electric buses for this project.
NEX and EA Group are fully equipped with electric vehicle technology and supporting infrastructure, covering everything from production and energy management systems to charging station services. This ensures the project can be managed efficiently in all aspects, including operations, maintenance, and long-term service continuity.
Vasu Klomkliang, Chairman of NEX, stated that Nakhonchaiair places trust in the capabilities, quality, and operational standards of EA Group and NEX. The company’s role as the sole producer and assembler allows for efficient cost management and quality control throughout the production and delivery process—a key competitive factor in this bid.
The BMTA’s electric bus production and assembly project is part of Bangkok’s public bus system reform plan. The BMTA aims to replace its entire bus fleet with electric buses under a 7-year leasing contract for 1,520 units, upgrading service quality, cutting long-term operating costs, and promoting an eco-friendly transportation system. The project value is THB 15.355 billion.
Following the completion of the e-bidding process, the auction committee will review the proposals and is expected to announce the winning bidder within December. It is anticipated that the contract with the selected contractor will be signed in late January 2026. Subsequently, the BMTA will begin receiving deliveries of the buses in 2027.
According to the TOR (Terms of Reference), the winner is required to deliver 1,520 EV air-conditioned buses and 434 chargers within 360 days. The lease period is set for 7 years, with the delivery divided into three phases.
