According to a Bloomberg report citing sources familiar with the matter, China Mobile Ltd. is evaluating the sale of its minority interest in Thai telecom operator True Corporation Public Company Limited (SET: TRUE).
The Chinese telecommunications group, which currently holds approximately 7.8% of True Corp., has engaged an adviser to gauge potential interest from possible buyers.
Following the report, the share price of TRUE as of 4:06 PM (Bangkok time) dropped by 3.47% or THB 0.50 to THB 13.90, with a trading value of THB 3.89 billion.
On June 25, 2026, market rumors circulating suggested that China Mobile International Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of China Mobile, is considering selling its entire stake in TRUE. The holding consists of 2,698,330,341 shares, representing 7.81% of the total voting rights. The reports indicated that the deal would be executed via a ‘Big Lot’ transaction at a discount to the current market price.
China Mobile initially became a major shareholder in TRUE in June 2014 through a Private Placement of shares at THB 6.45 per share, which at the time accounted for approximately 18% of the company. The shareholding structure was later reorganized following the merger between True and DTAC and strategic adjustments by the CP Group and Telenor.
