Market Roundup 14 August 2026

Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,609.06 points, decreased 5.30 points or 0.33%, with a trading value of THB 81.75 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market settled lower and showed a weaker-than-expected performance. Despite notching gains in early trading, the benchmark faced selling pressures from corrections in the banking and finance sectors during the afternoon.

Meanwhile, investors adopted a selective speculation strategy based on companies’ earnings results, reflecting the lack of major driving factors.

For next week, the analyst expects the Thai market to move sideways, recommending investors closely monitor Thailand’s GDP figures release and the Middle East situation.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will undertake official visits to Australia from August 17 – 20, 2026, and New Zealand from August 20 – 22, 2026, following invitations from the respective prime ministers.

The objective of these visits is to enhance Thailand’s economic prospects through expanded market access for Thai products, increased investment and technology transfer, business sector collaboration, and strengthened cooperation in security and people-to-people exchanges.
