SET Index Edges Up on Electronics and Oil-Linked Sectors, Trump-Xi Summit in Focus

On Wednesday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,610.83 points, showing an increase of 6.39 points or 0.40%, with a trading value of THB 37.39 billion.

UOB Kay Hian Securities (Thailand) noted that the Thai stock market opened higher this morning, supported by gains in selective sectors. These included the electronics components sector, companies that stand to benefit from declining crude oil prices, such as those in the transportation and consumer sectors, as well as the renewable energy sector.

Meanwhile, the overall tone in international markets remained unclear, as global investors are generally lacking short-term drivers. Attention is focused on the upcoming discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as monitoring movements in oil prices and the forthcoming financial results from major U.S. technology companies, which are expected next week.

For the afternoon session, the Thai bourse is anticipated to remain in positive territory. UOBKH provided a support level at 1,580 points and resistance at 1,620 points. Should the index surpass the resistance level, further upside is expected.
