On Thursday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,603.96 points, showing a decrease of 6.74 points or 0.42%, with a trading value of THB 35.49 billion.
FSS International Investment Advisory Securities (FSSIA) noted that the Thai stock market opened lower this morning, mirroring the sentiment of international markets. This decline was mainly attributed to a rebound in crude oil prices and a rise in U.S. Treasury yields. Meanwhile, buying interest in electronics component stocks helped cushion the index, resulting in a more resilient performance than initially expected.
Looking ahead to the afternoon session, FSSIA forecasts that the SET Index is likely to move within a narrow range, as investors await the outcome of discussions between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Market participants are also closely monitoring escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, after Iran’s leader declared that the country would not succumb to U.S. pressure, prompting another surge in oil prices.
The brokerage has set the anticipated support range for the Thai bourse at 1,595 to 1,600 points, with resistance seen at 1,610 points.
