Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (SET: THAI) has announced the cancellation of several domestic and international flights scheduled for September 29–30, 2026, following widespread disruption at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport that has affected flight operations and left passengers facing lengthy baggage delays.
In its latest announcement, THAI said the cancellations were due to the impact of flooding in Bangkok and surrounding areas, although the airline did not provide further details on the specific operational causes behind the cancellations.
The announcement comes after significant disruption to THAI’s ground-handling operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport over the past several days. The airport said flooding in several areas had prevented some THAI ground-handling staff from reporting for duty, resulting in staff shortages. Some baggage carts operated by THAI were also reported to have malfunctioned, further affecting ground operations.
The disruption has resulted in delays to departing flights, lengthy waits for arriving passengers to collect their baggage, and a backlog of unclaimed luggage. THAI said on Monday that it had added personnel over the past two days to accelerate baggage handling and expected to progressively deliver registered delayed baggage to passengers from the afternoon of September 28.
Against this backdrop, THAI has now confirmed the cancellation of selected flights for September 29 and 30.
For September 29, the cancelled flights are:
* Bangkok–Udon Thani: TG008 / TG009
* Bangkok–New Delhi: TG315 / TG316
* Bangkok–Singapore: TG407 / TG408
* Bangkok–Kuala Lumpur: TG415 / TG416
* Bangkok–Frankfurt: TG922 / TG923
For September 30, the cancellations include:
* Bangkok–Munich: TG924 / TG925
* Bangkok–Brussels: TG934 / TG935
The cancellations cover both domestic and international services, including several long-haul European routes.
THAI apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and advised affected travelers to contact the THAI Contact Center for further information at +66 2 356 1111, which is available 24 hours a day, or via email at [email protected].
The latest cancellations add to the operational challenges faced by THAI at its Bangkok hub after flooding disrupted access for some ground-handling personnel and contributed to delays in baggage sorting and delivery. Suvarnabhumi Airport has been coordinating with THAI to increase ground-handling personnel, repair or replace malfunctioning baggage equipment, and clear the accumulated baggage backlog.
THAI has not indicated in its latest cancellation notice how long the operational disruption is expected to continue or whether additional flights could be affected beyond September 30.
