Thai Airways Suspends Cargo Acceptance at Suvarnabhumi Airport Amid Flooding Disruption

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (SET: THAI) has temporarily suspended the acceptance of inbound and outbound cargo at its cargo warehouse from September 30 to October 6, 2026, as flooding continues to disrupt operations and affect staff availability.

According to a notice issued by THAI’s Cargo Operations Department on September 29, the temporary cargo embargo is necessary as flooding in affected areas continues to impact employees’ ability to travel to work, particularly in terms of staffing levels.

The airline said the reduced workforce has significantly affected warehouse operations, including the delivery of cargo to customers and the transfer of cargo to designated flights, resulting in a substantial accumulation of cargo.

To allow the company to manage the situation, workforce, and available resources appropriately, while maintaining safety and operational efficiency at its cargo facilities, THAI said it would temporarily suspend the acceptance of inbound and outbound cargo at the THAI Cargo warehouse from September 30 through October 6, 2026.

The measure is intended to allow the cargo facility to clear the backlog and resume normal and efficient services as quickly as possible.

THAI Cargo apologized for the inconvenience and potential impact caused by the situation, while thanking customers for their understanding and cooperation during the disruption.

Customers can contact the THAI Cargo Terminal Contact Center at 02-137-4200 or via the LINE Official Account @THAICARGOTERMINAL, available 24 hours a day, for further information.

The latest development adds another layer to the operational disruption affecting THAI at Suvarnabhumi Airport, where the airline has also been dealing with delayed baggage and flight disruptions in recent days.

THAI previously said it had deployed additional personnel and resources to accelerate the sorting, handling, and delivery of delayed baggage, with baggage from 52 flights operated on September 26–27 still being processed for delivery. The airline also reported that 34 flights experienced delays on September 28.

THAI has also announced the cancellation of selected domestic and international flights for September 29–30, citing the impact of flooding in Bangkok and surrounding areas.
