SET Index Surges on Large-Cap Buying Amid Elevated Oil Prices

On Friday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,570.62 points, showing an increase of 6.71 points or 0.43%, with a trading value of THB 42.01 billion.

Bualuang Securities (BLS) wrote that the Thai stock market advanced during the morning session, buoyed by positive sentiment, particularly from gains in large-cap stocks. Shares in sectors linked to oil prices performed notably well, benefiting from continued increases in oil prices, which are being driven by persistent tensions in the Middle East.

This rise in oil prices helped support market momentum, alongside additional buying activity in the banking, telecommunications, and retail sectors—further propelling the market.

At the same time, investor sentiment appeared more relaxed following comments from several Federal Reserve officials regarding U.S. interest rates. The officials indicated that any decisions on further rate hikes would take time, leading market participants to expect a slower pace in the U.S. Fed’s rate-increase cycle.

Looking ahead, Bualuang expects the Thai stock market to continue trading sideways in positive territory during the afternoon session, with resistance projected at 1,580 and support at 1,550.
