The major shareholder of Bangchak Corporation (BCP) and MFC Asset Management (MFC) has taken a technology bet made years ago onto Wall Street, while reaffirming its commitment to invest in Thailand.
XTEND AI Robotics (NYSE: XTND), a company backed by Chartered Group at an early stage, rang the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange last week. XTEND began trading on September 4 after completing a business combination with JFB Construction Holdings. The deal raised about $110 million and valued the company roughly $1.5 billion.
Filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission show how the group’s stake is structured. The interest is held through several affiliated entities, including Opus Chartered Issuances S.A. and vehicles linked to Japan Israel High Tech Ventures and Chartered Holdings Limited. Eyal Agmoni, the group’s founder and chairman, is reported as the ultimate beneficial owner of an interest equal to about 20% of XTEND’s outstanding shares.
The stake gives the group exposure to a fast-growing sector. XTEND focuses on “Physical AI,” technology that lets machines perceive their surroundings, make decisions and carry out physical tasks. Its XTEND Operating System (XOS) connects autonomous platforms under a human-machine teaming model, with uses in defense, homeland security and public safety. The company says XOS powers more than 12,500 deployed systems in over 30 countries, supported by manufacturing in the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, Singapore and Latvia.
For Agmoni, the listing is a waypoint rather than an exit. “Breakthrough technology and ambition are important, but the journey does not end with an IPO,” he said, signaling the group intends to remain a strategic partner as XTEND expands.
That long-term stance also shapes the group’s approach in Thailand. “Thailand has long-term potential beyond tourism,” Agmoni said, pointing to the country’s economic fundamentals, market size and position within ASEAN.
In energy, the group holds about 247 million Bangchak shares, or roughly 16.82%, through Alpha Chartered Energy Co., Ltd. Agmoni sees the company as more than a refiner, citing its role in the regional energy transition and its capacity to expand.
In financial services, Opus Chartered Issuances S.A. acquired about 31.36 million MFC shares, or roughly 24.96%. Agmoni described the investment as complementary to the group’s international strategy, particularly in asset management, financial products and potential international wealth-management partnerships.
Taken together, the three holdings follow a consistent pattern: sizeable positions in businesses that can benefit from long-term structural change, held with a view beyond short-term market cycles. The group said XTEND’s NYSE debut is the latest milestone in that approach, while its positions in Bangchak and MFC underline Thailand’s place within its global portfolio.
