SET Index Falls as DELTA-SCC and Refinery Sector Face Selling Pressure

On Thursday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,553.99 points, showing a decrease of 12.11 points or 0.77%, with a trading value of THB 41.08 billion.

Yuanta Securities (Thailand) stated that the Thai stock market continued to decline this morning, pressured by heavy selling in DELTA and SCC following the release of their third-quarter 2026 results that fell short of expectations.

SCC’s performance has especially triggered market concerns that the broader petrochemical sector may deliver similarly weak results. On the other hand, refinery stocks also faced negative sentiment after government intervention in the ex-refinery price formula.

Meanwhile, the outcome of the latest U.S. Federal Reserve meeting, which held rates steady and reinforced one more rate hike this year, was in line with market expectations. Foreign investors have started to resume persistent selling, a trend expected to continue today and tomorrow, as they look to reduce risk ahead of the U.S. mid-term elections on November 3.

For the afternoon session, the market is expected to remain range-bound with no clear positive catalysts. Investors are recommended to monitor DELTA, as Delta Electronics Taiwan will hold an analyst meeting this afternoon. Any signs of improving confidence may help the Thai-listed stock recover.

According to the brokerage, the support range for the Thai bourse is seen at 1,548–1,550 points, with resistance at 1,560 points.
