PTTEP Q3 Profit Rises 13% to $443 Million as High Oil Realizations Offset Asset Impairment

PTT Exploration and Production PCL (SET: PTTEP) reported a third-quarter 2026 net profit of $443 million, representing a 13% year-over-year increase driven by strong realized energy prices, despite a sequential profit contraction caused by planned facility maintenance and non-operating charges. Consensus expectation figures were not published in the earnings release, but results demonstrated firm underlying operational growth over the prior-year period. Average sales volume reached 521,163 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOED), up 2% year-over-year, while the average selling price surged 19% year-over-year to $51.52 per BOE.

Core exploration and production delivered a segment net profit of $595 million. Domestic operations in Thailand anchored performance, generating $565 million in net profit (+87% YoY), buoyed by higher selling prices and retroactive contract adjustments on the MTJDA A-18-01 project. Conversely, other Southeast Asia posted a $67 million net loss, dragged down by an asset impairment on Malaysia’s Block K project.

Operational strength yielded $728 million in normal operating profit, supported by an 11% YoY decline in unit costs to $28.19/BOE. However, non-operating losses widened to $285 million, hit by the Malaysia Block K asset write-down and mark-to-market derivative losses on crude oil hedging contracts as forward prices climbed.

PTTEP maintained strong liquidity, closing the quarter with $2.29 billion in cash and cash equivalents and an interest-bearing debt-to-equity ratio of 0.25x. For full-year 2026, management reaffirmed guidance for average sales volumes of approximately 550,000 BOED, a 70% EBITDA margin, and unit costs of $29–$30/BOE, supported by crude oil price assumptions of $90–$100 per barrel.
