SET Index Slumps as Investors Reduce Risk Exposure Amid Global Tech Rout

On Friday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,473.85 points, showing a decrease of 24.14 points or 1.61%, with a trading value of THB 43.13 billion.

Bualuang Securities (BLS) stated that the Thai stock market declined in the morning session, mirroring losses in global markets. The sell-off was led by electronics component stocks, reflecting the negative sentiment in technology shares, as concerns grew over potential U.S. restrictions on data center and AI investments following the Democratic Party’s sweeping majority in both houses of the U.S. Congress.

With no new supporting factors for the market, investors remained in risk-off mode, reducing exposure and rebalancing portfolios.

For the afternoon outlook, the market is expected to continue fluctuating in negative territory, with a resistance level at 1,490 points and a support level at 1,470 points.
