From Thailand to UN COP30: 51Talk Empowers Thai Youth to Lead Global Climate Change Conversation

51Talk (Five One Talk), a global online English learning platform for children, with over 14 years of experience and serving students across more than 50 countries, continues to advance its mission to elevate Thai youths onto the global stage.

Most recently, 51Talk sponsored a Thai student representative to participate in the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which was held from 10–21 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil. COP30 is recognized as the foremost global forum that gathers experts, heads of state, prime ministers, negotiators, activists, and young leaders from around the world to exchange ideas, strategize, and determine sustainable pathways for confronting the global climate crisis. This milestone reinforces 51Talk’s commitment to empowering Thai children to use the “Power of Language and Hope” to articulate their vision for a better planet and to drive positive change.

Twelve-year-old Wasuthida Rinkluean, or “Ava”, represented Thailand on the global stage, sharing her vision under the theme, “Born from sadness, shaped by hope, and driven by love for the ocean.” She recounted her sadness upon seeing a baby sea turtle caught and killed in fishing nets, which became a driving force for her mission to protect the oceans. Ava highlighted the issue of plastic pollution in Thailand and across the world, warning that “What we throw away is coming back to us,” noting that microplastics can also be found in human blood. Ava’s moving speech not only impressed international audiences but also exemplified the vision of Thai youth boldly raising their voices for a greener world and demonstrating their commitment to shaping a sustainable future.

“Participating in COP30 helped me realize that even small actions in daily life can lead to significant changes. I learned that confidently communicating in English allows us to share our ideas and solutions with the world,” said Ava. Her mother added, “We are grateful to 51Talk for giving Ava the opportunity to learn and grow on an international level. Presenting her vision to a global audience has not only boosted her confidence but also inspired other children to realize they, too, can make a meaningful impact for a sustainable world.”

Since 2019, 51Talk has played a key role in preparing Thai youths to shine on an international level, which is achieved by fostering confident and creative English communication skills through one-on-one online lessons with certified foreign teachers and native-speaking English teachers. To further this mission, 51Talk launched the English speech contest titled “Green Talk: Speak for the Future at the United Nations.” Supported by the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE), the program provides Thai youths with a platform to present their environmental visions and engage in innovative solutions for global sustainability, inspiring dialogue and raising awareness among the next generation.

Dr. Chaipon Juntawang, Director of the Children and Youth Environmental Promotion Section at the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE), said, “The GreenTalk project provides Thai youths with the space to showcase their potential and environmental vision on a global scale. We are proud to support 51Talk in creating this important opportunity and whole-heartedly believe that the voices of our youths will play a vital role in driving environmental policies into actionable outcomes.”

Mrs. Emily Li, General Manager of 51Talk Thailand, said, “This collaboration reflects 51Talk’s long-term mission to nurture a new generation of Thai leaders, helping them learn, grow, and take the stage globally. We firmly believe that English is the key to unlocking new opportunities and empowering youths to become the ‘Voice of Hope’ for our world.”
