PTTGC to Resume Olefins Plant, Boosting Domestic Plastic Supply amid Market Volatility

PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (SET: PTTGC), the operator of an integrated petrochemical and chemical business, connecting upstream to downstream operations, manages production flexibility and uses various raw materials to adapt to and accommodate market volatility, with the main objective of supporting the continuity of its customers’ plastic industry supply chain.

The majority of PTTGC’s plastic resin production capacity is polyethylene (PE), a key raw material used in everyday consumer goods such as bottle caps, opaque bottles, jerry cans, black water pipes, water tanks, and fishing nets. The company is running production at full capacity and prioritizing domestic deliveries as planned.

PTTGC is preparing to resume another olefins plant in early April, following the completion of a major maintenance shutdown as scheduled. This will increase the production of raw materials for making PE plastic pellets.

Meanwhile, the plant can also produce another type of raw material used to manufacture polypropylene (PP) resin, which will be supplied to domestic PP plastic pellet producers and trading partners to ease the tight demand for PP in the market. PP plastics are widely used in the production of food packaging such as instant food sachets, soup bags, and food containers.

At the same time, PTTGC continues to work closely with the government sector, PTT Group, the private sector, customers, trading partners, and industry allies to monitor the Middle East situation and evaluate impacts continuously. The company is also actively involved in supporting the continuity of the country’s industrial sector and mitigating effects on the public during continued market volatility.
