Songkran festival is a time when many people head home or travel with family and friends. It is also one of the busiest travel periods of the year, with a higher-than-usual risk of road accidents.
According to the Ministry of Transport, more than 17 million people travelled during the 2025 Songkran holiday, while over 1,500 accidents were recorded during the seven-day road safety period. The figures highlight the risks that can come with long-holiday travel, making insurance protection an important source of reassurance throughout the journey.
To help travellers feel more secure this festive season, FWD Insurance is offering free personal accident (PA) insurance through its “Happy Songkran” campaign, underwritten by Dhipaya Insurance Public Company Limited. The policy provides cover of up to 100,000 baht for 30 days, making protection easier to access for those travelling during Songkran. Interested individuals can register directly via their mobile phones, with no medical check-up and no complicated application process.
Mr. David Korunić, Chief Executive Officer for Thailand and Cambodia at FWD Life Insurance Plc., said: “Songkran is a time when many people travel home to be with their families, but it also brings a greater risk of road accidents. FWD Insurance wants to help give people added peace of mind on every journey by offering personal accident cover, so that everyone can enjoy the holiday with greater confidence and ease.”
Under the “Happy Songkran” campaign, those who register will receive personal accident cover of up to 100,000 baht for 30 days from the start of the policy, along medical expense cover of up to 5,000 baht. Registration is available free of charge through FWD Insurance’s online channels from April 1 to June 30, 2026. Applicants must be Thai nationals aged 20 to 60 on the date of application. The offer is limited to one policy per national ID card number across all registration channels and is available while stocks last.
