On Friday at 10:36 AM (Bangkok time), Thailand’s SET Index traded at 1,634.49 points, representing a decrease of 6.54 points or 0.40%, with a trading value of THB 24.77 billion.
Maybank Securities (Thailand) expects the Thai stock market to experience a period of consolidation on Friday, in line with the direction of global markets, due to heightened concerns over the increasingly tense situation in the Middle East.
This has exerted upward pressure on Brent crude prices, which have surpassed $100 per barrel. The rise in oil prices has reignited worries about higher inflation and a tighter monetary policy stance among central banks worldwide, leading to a decline in global equities.
The Thai bourse is likely to come under pressure and move lower; however, a significant drop appears unlikely, according to Maybank. The structure of the market, which is weighted towards energy and petrochemical sectors, is expected to provide support as these sectors typically benefit from higher oil prices.
Key factors to watch include the release of Thailand’s export and import data for June. Market consensus anticipates exports to expand by 15.2% year-on-year, while imports are expected to grow by 35.8% year-on-year.
Investors are also recommended to monitor the 2Q26 financial results of DELTA. Should the results exceed expectations, it could offer positive sentiment to the market, whereas disappointing results could exert downward pressure.
The brokerage has set a support level for the SET Index at 1,630 points and a resistance level at 1,650 points.
