While a post-earnings share price correction signaled heightened market expectations, analysts at InnovestX Securities maintain a constructive fundamental outlook on AMD following its second-quarter performance. The firm suggests that the semiconductor designer is successfully evolving from a niche hardware alternative into a primary secondary provider of integrated artificial intelligence infrastructure.
InnovestX states that AMD is no longer just a component manufacturer but has become a second full-service infrastructure entity, offering a stack that integrates processors, graphics units, networking, and software. This transition is validated by high-level collaborations with industry leaders such as Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
Although Nvidia retains a competitive edge through its established CUDA ecosystem, InnovestX notes that AMD can secure significant growth as a diversified “second source” provider. By offering competitive costs per token and leveraging a massive EPYC server footprint, the company can expand revenue without needing to directly unseat the market leader.
AMD reported second-quarter revenue of $11.5 billion, a 50% year-over-year increase that surpassed consensus targets. Adjusted earnings of $1.66 per share also beat expectations, driven by a Data Center segment that saw sales double to $6.7 billion. Despite these strong figures, the stock faced downward pressure as investors reacted to a gross margin of 54%, which fell short of the 56% full-year target. InnovestX views this price volatility as a reflection of the high bar set by the market rather than a flaw in company fundamentals.
The analytical focus now shifts toward AMD’s ability to execute its product roadmap through 2027. InnovestX identifies the timely delivery of the Helios rack-scale systems and the MI450-series GPUs as critical barometers for success.
In the medium to long term, the outlook for the Data Center business remains robust as the AI adoption cycle matures. However, for the immediate future, InnovestX recommends a strategy of accumulating shares during price consolidations rather than chasing upward momentum. Key indicators for future performance include the expansion of the ROCm software platform, profit margin stabilization, and the successful scaling of the Helios platform in the fourth quarter.
The share price of AMD23, a Thai depositary receipt of Nasdaq’s AMD issued by InnovestX Securities, fell 3.6% to THB 6.70 per share at the closing of the morning session on August 5, 2026.
