SET Index Trends Upward on Large-Cap Buying and Easing Mideast Tensions

On Thursday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,622.23 points, showing an increase of 12.45 points or 0.77%, with a trading value of THB 38.56 billion.

Bualuang Securities (BLS) wrote that the Thai stock market rose in the morning session, supported by positive sentiment from easing tensions in the Middle East. This followed reports that Iran and Oman are close to reaching an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in the near future, while the market is also awaiting clarity on U.S. negotiations that are expected to be disclosed soon.

Meanwhile, July inflation data released Wednesday came in below market expectations, reinforcing the view that inflation may have already peaked. This has helped ease concerns over further short-term interest rate hikes, offering an additional positive factor for the Thai stock market. Furthermore, the strengthening of the Thai baht has attracted buying interest in large-cap stocks, lending additional support to the index.

Looking forward to the afternoon session, the market is expected to continue trading in positive territory, with resistance at 1,630 points and support at 1,610 points.
