TRUE Ramps Up 5G Network Readiness to Support ‘Feel All the Feelings @ Koh Phangan: Recharge Your Life’

As urban life grows increasingly fast-paced and exhausting, Koh Phangan has become a destination many choose for a break. This August, Thong Sala Pier in Koh Phangan District, Surat Thani Province, welcomes visitors who want to “recharge their life” through “Feel All the Feelings @ Koh Phangan,” a campaign inspired by the concept “The Island of Power Energized by the Moon,” inviting everyone to experience “every feeling of Koh Phangan” through its nature, people, art, and culture that give the island its one-of-a-kind charm.

In response, True Corporation has moved forward with expanding its 5G coverage to support the journeys of Thai tourists, international travelers, and the growing number of digital nomads choosing to live on the island for extended stays.

At the event, Khun Oliver Kittipong Veeratecha, Chief Brand and Communications Officer of True Corporation Public Company Limited, attended the opening ceremony of “Feel All the Feelings @ Koh Phangan: Recharge Your Life,” together with Mr. Paisit Thongcherm, Koh Phangan District Chief, who presided over the ceremony, Ms. Nittharat Wanitcharoen, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Koh Samui Office, and Ms. Naruemon Maisopha, President of the Koh Phangan Hotel and Tourism Association.

Khun Oliver Kittipong Veeratecha, Chief Brand and Communications Officer of True Corporation Public Company Limited, shared, “For True, meaningful connectivity does not stop at simply having a signal. It is about enabling people, communities, and economic opportunities to connect with one another. That is why True is proud to support the ‘Feel All the Feelings @ Koh Phangan: Recharge Your Life’ campaign. Koh Phangan clearly reflects this belief, as reliable connectivity plays a role in the everyday lives of islanders, the experiences of travelers, and the growth of local businesses. Through our 5G network and digital technologies, we believe good technology should not only be faster or more advanced — it must also help society and the environment grow together in balance, connecting the small energy of every individual on Koh Phangan into meaningful change for Thailand’s seas.”

Reliable 5G connectivity has become just as important as the sea breeze, sunshine, scenery, and beaches, because digital life – remote work, online meetings, and high-speed internet access – must continue even while getting away from the city. True has therefore expanded its 5G coverage along the entire journey, from Surat Thani Airport to the pier and across the ferry route to Koh Phangan, ensuring high-performance connectivity from the moment travelers step off the plane to their time living on the island by the sea.

According to 2025 data from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Koh Phangan welcomed a total of 1,770,164 visitors, comprising 518,685 Thai tourists (29 percent) and 1,251,479 international tourists (71 percent). The island generated total tourism revenue of over 25,399.26  million baht, with 3,636.59 million baht (14 percent) coming from Thai tourists and 21,762.67 million baht (86 percent) from international tourists – underscoring Koh Phangan’s role as an economically significant tourism destination, driven largely by international visitor spending.

Today, Koh Phangan is a destination for travelers who come to rest and recharge their lives. Even while seeking to slow down from the rush of everyday life, reliable connectivity remains an essential part of island living – from remote work and finding information to sharing every feeling and experience along the journey. True recognizes the importance of this and has stepped up 5G coverage to support Koh Phangan.

Koh Phangan: More Than a Full Moon Party

Many know Koh Phangan for its Full Moon Party, but behind that image, the island is also home to people of diverse nationalities, a hub for artists, creatives, wellness entrepreneurs, and a community that has grown alongside nature. Feel Phangan was created to tell these stories through its people, way of life, and art.

This diversity is reflected in the island’s five distinct tourism zones:

  • Zone 1 – Center of Lifestyle: The island’s hub for up-to-date living, True 5G, communication, transportation, businesses, and security.
  • Zone  2 – Full Moon Destination: Home to the island’s iconic nightlife and entertainment.
  • Zone 3 – Heritage & Nature: Offering hidden natural attractions, historical routes, waterfalls, and pristine forests.
  • Zone 4 – Into the Sea: A classic fisherman’s village known for fresh, renowned seafood and some of the island’s most charming beaches.
  • Zone 5 – Health & Wellness Tourism: A haven for holistic wellbeing, mindfulness, and reconnecting with the present moment.

A highlight of the event is HTMS Koh Phangan (713) at Thong Sala Pier – once a Royal Thai Navy vessel that protected Thailand’s seas, now taking on a new role as the venue for the photography exhibition “Thai Sahakij: Memories of Phangan,” featuring the work of Narin Poolsap, the island’s pioneering photographer, whose archive was rediscovered and carried forward by his grandson to pass on the island’s community roots to the next generation.

Throughout “Feel All the Feelings @ Koh Phangan: Recharge Your Life,” visitors will experience traditional and contemporary performances by Thai and international artists, Phleng Bok (Southern Thai folk singing) performed by local children, and the Loi Khrao boat ceremony, symbolizing letting go of the past and embracing new beginnings. The event also features family activities, a photo booth, a marketplace of local brands, a wellness zone, and a food zone building on the Southern Thai tradition of Kin Hor, emphasizing sharing and reducing plastic use.

Beyond Connectivity: A Connecting Force That Supports Thailand’s Seas

“Supporting network readiness for this event reflects our important role as a leading Telco-Tech Company that sees the network as more than communications infrastructure — it is a ‘connecting force’ that helps island communities communicate, coordinate, raise awareness, and grow the local economy on an ongoing basis. This is especially true in marine tourism destinations, where reliable internet and connectivity have become essential infrastructure for everyday life, local businesses, and the visitor experience,” Khun Oliver added.

True’s network engineering team has continuously surveyed Koh Phangan to ensure reliable connectivity, focusing on the Thong Sala Event Grounds, the festival’s main venue. The team expanded 5G coverage to support both everyday usage and the significant surge expected during the event, put measures in place in advance for high volumes of simultaneous users relying on 5G, and checked signal quality across the island with special attention given to confirming network readiness for the highlights of “Feel Phangan Pride” including:

  • HTMS Koh Phangan (713) and the event grounds at Thong Sala Bay and Thong Sala Pier, the main venue
  • Thong Sala–Ban Tai Road, the island’s primary transportation corridor
  • Haad Rin Beach, one of Koh Phangan’s most popular beaches
  • Phangan Bayshore Resort, a popular accommodation among visitors
  • Mae Haad Beach, a snorkeler’s paradise on Koh Phangan

Behind the Strong Signal: AI and Environmentally Conscious Network Quality

Koh Phangan’s network readiness is no accident — it is the result of True’s continuous expansion of both 5G and 4G infrastructure, extending coverage across the island as well as remote areas nationwide. Backed by eight frequency bands, the most comprehensive spectrum portfolio in Thailand, True leverages AI to monitor network quality around the clock and manages base stations through an intelligent energy system that automatically adjusts operations based on real demand, reducing energy consumption without compromising signal quality — reflecting True’s approach to network development that considers the environment alongside connectivity stability.

Khun Oliver concluded, “For True, connectivity is not simply about speed and strength. It is about connecting every relationship and opportunity together in a meaningful way. We are committed to playing our part in caring for Thailand’s seas together with the Koh Phangan community. Feel Phangan Pride. We hope True’s network becomes another thread that carries those feelings to everyone.”

This confidence is backed by a decade of proven performance: TrueMove H has been ranked Thailand’s No. 1 mobile network for ten consecutive years, while TrueOnline has held the No. 1 position in fixed broadband for six consecutive years, according to the latest 2025 rankings by nPerf, the France-based global network benchmarking organization. Most recently, True Corporation was also named the No. 1 provider for both mobile network and fixed broadband performance across Mainland Southeast Asia.
