In the wake of a recent tragic incident at a school in Nonthaburi, educational institutions in Thailand are taking proactive steps to reassure families and strengthen safety protocols ahead of the new academic year.
Singapore International Schools (SISB Schools) or SISB Public Company Limited (SET: SISB) has reached out to its parent and guardian community, issuing a letter to extend heartfelt sympathies and to underscore its ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of students and staff. According to the letter, Kelvin Koh, CEO of SISB and Chair of the Schools Governing Board, stated that “Following the recent tragic incident at a school in Nonthaburi, we would like to express our deepest sympathies to the students, teachers, families and the wider community affected.
We understand that news of this nature can be deeply concerning, particularly for parents, students and those working within school communities.
At SISB, the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a fundamental priority. As we prepare for the new academic year, we are reinforcing key areas across our schools, including campus security, staff vigilance and emergency preparedness. We will also continue our regular emergency and lockdown drills, which are practiced every academic year to ensure staff and students know how to respond should an emergency arise.
Just as importantly, we will continue to pay close attention to our students’ well-being. Our principals, teachers and counsellors are here to listen and provide support, and we encourage parents and students to speak up if they see, hear or become aware of anything that causes concern.
