SISB Joins Hands With BCHF to Mobilise Community for Flood Relief Efforts

Singapore International School of Bangkok (SISB) has strengthened its commitment to fostering global citizenship among its students through the recent “Flood Aid Collection” initiative—aimed at instilling values of empathy, sharing, and social responsibility by gathering essential items to support individuals affected by the recent flooding in Bangkok. In this effort, SISB collaborated with the Bangkok Community Help Foundation (BCHF).

The initiative is a reflection of SISB’s core philosophy of nurturing students in academic achievement, life skills, and civic responsibility. By involving students, parents, teachers, and staff in the donation process, SISB offered its community a hands-on opportunity to engage in meaningful social contribution and support for flood victims.

The donation drive took place from September 30 to October 2, 2026, inviting SISB families to contribute necessary goods such as rice, canned fish, instant noodles, cooking oil, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, laundry detergent, and even food for dogs and cats. All items collected were designated for residents in areas affected by the floods.

Bangkok Community Help Foundation is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organisation established in 2020 by Friso Poldervaart and Greg Lange. Initially created to assist communities during the COVID-19 outbreak through meal distribution, the foundation has since expanded its scope to include a wide range of humanitarian aid, benefiting over five million people across Thailand.

The Flood Aid Collection initiative offered more than just tangible support to those in need. It also provided SISB students with valuable experiential learning outside the classroom, helping them appreciate kindness, community engagement, and the collective resolution of societal challenges.

SISB maintains that a quality education is not only marked by academic success, but also by the development of students who understand global issues, empathise with others, and are ready to apply their knowledge for positive social impact. The Flood Aid Collection exemplifies the school’s effort to integrate active citizenship into its educational environment, underscoring the strength of the SISB community in supporting those in crisis and shaping new generations of compassionate, responsible global citizens.
