TISCO Securities has issued a warning of the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s (SET) market surveillance alert involving cash balance measures, as recent trading activity raises regulatory concerns. The firm noted that HANA Microelectronics Public Company Limited (SET: HANA) has a potential to be put in market surveillance criteria.
HANA exhibited suspicious trading patterns after its share price soared by 36% over the past five trading sessions, accompanied by an unusually high trading value of 3.06 billion baht. This trading value significantly exceeds its daily average, which typically ranges from 500 million to 800 million baht.
Meanwhile, derivative warrant DELTA01P2611A and Stars Microelectronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited (SET: SMT) are currently under trading surveillance measures, with DELTA01P2611A scheduled to remain under restrictions until August 21 and SMT until August 28, unless the period is extended.
These cash balance measures are imposed on securities that the SET deems to have exhibited trading activities inconsistent with normal market behavior. The measures are intended to mitigate potential risks to investors and the overall market system, particularly when abnormal turnover ratios, trading values, and pricing—such as excessive deviations in the price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio from underlying fundamentals—are observed.
The surveillance mechanism aims to ensure market integrity by targeting securities suspected of price manipulation or those subject to speculative trading that could impact market stability.
