PTT Diversifies Oil and LNG Supplies, Expands Int’l Investments to Counter Global Volatility and Ensure Long-term Growth

Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and President of PTT Public Company Limited (SET: PTT), stated that amid the ongoing instability in the Middle East, the company places the highest priority on ensuring Thailand’s energy security, while also striving to deliver appropriate returns to its shareholders.

PTT manages its business activities across the entire supply chain and maintains sufficient financial liquidity to address rising costs and increased market volatility. The company has implemented a strategy to diversify crude oil sources to minimize reliance on any single supplier and relies on its global network of business partners to guarantee the continued supply of energy.

Simultaneously, PTT has invested in the upgrade of its refining facilities, enhancing flexibility to process crude oil from a variety of sources. The company continues to pursue its core hydrocarbon businesses where it holds considerable expertise, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening its governance over investment processes.

These strategies have contributed to PTT’s stronger-than-expected performance in the first half of 2026, during which the company reported a net profit of THB 78.26 billion, an increase of more than THB 33 billion, or over 74%, compared to the same period last year.

In the upstream sector, PTT is increasing natural gas production to meet domestic energy demand and expanding its foreign investments to bolster capabilities and diversify its long-term revenue streams. For its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, the company leverages its international trading operations and global trading network to diversify energy sourcing, increase flexibility, and strengthen the country’s energy system.

PTT aims to expand its LNG portfolio to 3.7 million tons by 2026, with plans to increase to 10 million tons by 2030 and 15 million tons by 2035, aspiring to establish itself as a global LNG player. The company believes that natural gas will continue to play a critical role in stabilizing energy systems during Thailand’s and the world’s transition to clean energy sources.

PTT, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and both public and private sector partners, is preparing to host the ‘Gastech 2026’ event from 14–17 September 2026. This will serve as a platform for policymakers, businesses, and international organizations to exchange perspectives and demonstrate Thailand’s capabilities on the world energy stage.

In its petrochemical and refining business, the PTT Group remains committed to seeking out global partners to enhance the strength of its flagship companies and adjusting business strategies in response to evolving circumstances, such as the unrest in the Middle East and intervention policies by the government.

On the sustainability front, the company is actively reducing carbon emissions and taking part in the development of infrastructure and technology aimed at greenhouse gas reduction. This includes advancing the carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at the Arthit gas field in the Gulf of Thailand, which is expected to begin operations in 2028.

Additionally, PTT is moving forward with the I-SPARK project to enhance readiness in clean energy and infrastructure development to support future industries and Thailand’s economic growth.

PTT is also collaborating with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage to elevate forest management efforts that absorb carbon dioxide and generate carbon credits through community participation, thus supporting the nation’s net zero greenhouse gas emissions target.

Internally, the PTT Group is working to further strengthen and enhance value creation through intra-group collaboration, as seen in its Profit Enhancement Initiatives, which have already generated value exceeding THB 8.7 billion. These include MissionX and the ongoing digital transformation through Project AXIS, which integrates digital solutions and artificial intelligence into operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Further collaboration in supply chain and marketing within both domestic and international markets is supported by the P1 and D1 projects, while financial excellence is promoted through Project F1 to reinforce financial discipline and optimize cash flow management. These foundational approaches are essential to sustainable growth, delivering shareholder value, and maintaining investment-grade credit ratings.

Moreover, the PTT Group continues to support government measures aimed at mitigating the impact of energy prices on the public, with contributions estimated at approximately THB 17.5 billion, of which PTT’s share is more than THB 8.5 billion.

PTT’s international operational capabilities and commitment to energy security have resulted in the company being ranked number one in Thailand and second in Southeast Asia in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 rankings for the third consecutive year.

In its 48th year, PTT remains steadfast in adhering to the Energy Trilemma framework, which emphasizes energy security, affordable and competitive access, and sustainable business practices. The company is committed to elevating its position as a National Champion, creating added value, supporting economic growth, linking Thai businesses to global markets, integrating AI and digital technologies into operations, and advancing clean energy innovation and carbon reduction. All these align with PTT’s vision: “Together for Sustainable Thailand, Sustainable World—PTT standing strong with Thai society and growing globally in a sustainable manner.”
