Kasikorn Securities (KS) noted that two major events are taking place concurrently on Wednesday: Thailand Focus, organized by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) with its partners, and New Energy For Thailand, organized by Matichon.
The brokerage views these events as positive for companies such as Gulf Development (GULF), B.Grimm Power (BGRIM), and WHA Utilities and Power (WHAUP), giving target prices of THB 79.00, THB 22.00, and THB 8.75, respectively.
According to historical data since 2017, excluding the COVID-19 period, the SET Index has typically increased by 1.5% during the one to two weeks surrounding the event, with net foreign fund inflows of approximately THB 1.9 billion. Sectors that have tended to outperform during these periods include Electronics (+4%), Construction (+3.8%), Commerce (+2.7%), and Finance.
Thailand Focus 2026 features six key discussion topics:
- Rebooting Thailand’s Future: Digital, Data, and the Next Growth Catalysts
- Competing for the Future: How Thailand Can Win the Next Wave of High-Value Investment
- ASEAN Growth Opportunities (ASEAN Exchange Session)
- Energy Transition: From Cost Pressure to Competitive Advantage
- Thailand’s Macro Resilience — Fiscal Strength, Debt Sustainability & Sovereign Confidence
- Geopolitics to Profit: Which Thai Sectors Will Win from Global Realignment?
Key issues likely to attract attention from foreign investors include:
- The development of data centers, particularly regarding electricity and water reserves and Board of Investment (BOI) incentives
- Potential implications for Thailand’s sovereign rating next year if public debt reaches 70% of GDP
- Government plans to stimulate investment to reach 30% of GDP
A total of 88 listed companies are participating in the event, with 78 from Thailand and 10 from other ASEAN countries.
Kasikorn recommends that investors closely monitor developments related to data centers and the supply of energy, water, and electricity, as these topics are expected to feature prominently at both events.
In particular, any clarity regarding the Power Development Plan (PDP), including direct power purchase agreements (Direct PPAs) of over 2,000 megawatts, would be positive for the investment and power sectors, especially for companies such as GULF, BGRIM, AMATA, and WHAUP.
