On Monday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,618.55 points, showing an increase of 22.97 points or 1.44%, with a trading value of THB 33.33 billion.
Kasikorn Securities (KS) noted that the Thai stock market surged this morning, primarily driven by strong support from DELTA. Excluding the tech giant, the overall index exhibited a sideways and relatively flat movement.
Reflecting on the broader market sentiment, the brokerage highlighted that robust U.S. non-farm payroll data released last Friday showed an increase of 162,000 jobs in August, surpassing expectations and signaling continued strength in the U.S. labor market. This has raised concerns among investors regarding the possibility of a U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate hike at this month’s meeting.
Nevertheless, traders remain watchful for the release of both the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) figures for August, due this week, which are expected to provide further guidance on the Fed’s policy direction.
At the same time, DELTA’s share price has begun to deliver renewed support after its recent correction, leading Kasikorn to revise its recommendation upward. The current price adjustment has pushed DELTA’s valuation to a more attractive and reasonable level.
The brokerage views the weaker-than-expected second quarter of 2026 earnings as likely marking the bottom for the company, anticipating a gradual recovery into the third quarter as it manages costs effectively and benefits from sustained demand in the electronic components segment.
Looking ahead to this afternoon’s session, Kasikorn expects the Thai bourse to retain a positive tone, projecting a support range at 1,600 points and resistance between 1,620 and 1,630 points.
