CKPower Adds 5MW Solar Capacity, Seeing Favorable Water Conditions Boosting 2H26 Outlook

Mr. Thanawat Trivisvavet, Managing Director of CK Power Public Company Limited (SET: CKP), one of the region’s largest producers of electricity from renewables and one of the lowest carbon footprints, outlined the Company’s operating outlook for the second half of 2026.

The Company commenced commercial operations of an additional 5 MW of solar power projects developed in collaboration with Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (SET: BEM) in September. The additional capacity expands CKPower’s renewable energy portfolio, while supporting the use of renewable energy in Thailand’s transportation and infrastructure sectors and the continued expansion of the Company’s renewable energy business.

Meanwhile, CKPower continues to closely monitor water conditions. During the first six months of 2026, water flow through the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant was 17.7% higher than in the same period last year, resulting in an 11.2% increase in electricity sales volume and reflecting favorable Mekong River conditions for power generation during the first half of the year.

For the second half of 2026, CKPower assesses that water conditions remain supportive of electricity generation by Xayaburi Power Company Limited (XPCL), supported by rainfall across the Mekong Basin and expected upstream water releases. Water releases from upstream areas in China are expected to remain at relatively high levels from October through early November, with additional releases potentially occurring during certain periods in December. These factors are expected to support Mekong River water inflows during the fourth quarter. The Company expects water flow through the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant toward the end of the year, particularly in Q4/2026, to remain at favorable levels and slightly above average.

CKPower continues to closely monitor water conditions through its Hydrometeorological Monitoring and Forecasting System, which enhances the efficiency and accuracy of water-flow forecasting and supports effective power generation planning.

At Nam Ngum 2 Power Company Limited (NN2), active storage at the Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant stood at 32.53% of active storage capacity as of the end of July 2026, leaving sufficient reservoir capacity to accommodate higher inflows during the rainy season. Water inflows are expected to increase during the remainder of the third quarter, supported by seasonal rainfall and upstream water conditions. This is expected to support water availability for power generation during the second half of the year in line with the operating plan, following prudent management of electricity availability declarations during the first half.

Meanwhile, following scheduled maintenance in the first quarter, the power plants operated by Bangpa-in Cogeneration Limited (BIC) have returned to normal operations, supporting electricity generation and sales during the second half of the year.

Mr. Thanawat stated, “CKPower enters the second half of the year with support from several factors, including additional solar capacity developed with BEM, water conditions that remain favorable for XPCL’s power generation, improving water availability at NN2, and BIC’s return to normal operations following scheduled maintenance. These factors support the overall operating readiness of our power portfolio. The Company will continue to enhance the efficiency of its existing assets while progressively expanding renewable energy capacity to support sustainable business growth over the long term.”
