SET Index Declines Amid Profit-Taking Pressure as Investors Await US Inflation Data

On Thursday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,615.27 points, showing a decrease of 2.62 points or 0.16%, with a trading value of THB 43.15 billion.

AIRA Securities stated that the Thai stock market traded sideways with intermittent volatility, as there was profit-taking pressure in energy stocks after previous gains. Meanwhile, the banking sector saw upward movements, supporting the market and keeping it in positive territory. The hospital sector also showed gradual recovery, providing further stability for the benchmark.

Overall, the Thai bourse fluctuated as investors awaited the release of U.S. CPI inflation data on Friday to assess the interest rate outlook ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting next week. As a result, the market continues to face pressure from external factors.

For the afternoon session, AIRA expects the market to continue trading sideways. Rising oil prices are expected to help limit the downside, and the index is likely to remain steady. The support levels are set at 1,610 and 1,606 points, with resistance at 1,620 and 1,626 points.

The five securities with the highest trading value were as follows:
