SET Index Sees Marginal Gains as Technology and Shipping Sectors Provide Support

On Friday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,586.89 points, showing an increase of 3.55 points or 0.22%, with a trading value of THB 25.85 billion.

FSS International Investment Advisory Securities (FSSIA) stated that the Thai stock market posted marginal gains, supported by the U.S. Federal Reserve’s less-than-expected hawkish monetary policy. This led to a slowdown in U.S. government bond yields and an easing in crude oil prices, which provided a boost for technology stocks.

However, the index had largely priced in these positive factors yesterday, and the absence of new catalysts has limited further upside. Meanwhile, shipping stocks advanced, in line with high freight rates, while the third quarter is regarded as the high season for the industry.

For the afternoon session, FSSIA projects the Thai bourse will trade within a range, with support at 1,576 points and resistance at 1,590-1,595 points.

The five most actively traded securities were as follows:
