SET Index Edges Up as Banking Sector Recovers, Attention Remains on Market Uncertainty

On Thursday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,563.49 points, showing an increase of 4.48 points or 0.29%, with a trading value of THB 47.06 billion.

According to Pi Securities, the Thai stock market rebounded on technical grounds, following a sharp decline of nearly 50 points over the last two to three days. However, investment sentiment remains clouded by uncertainty. While U.S. personal consumption expenditures data came in lower than expected, U.S. government bond yields continued to rise, creating pressure on the upside for global equity markets.

The banking sector began to rebound this morning, while electronics component stocks moved higher in line with gains in international semiconductor shares. The direction of foreign fund flows remains risky, as ongoing flood conditions could weigh on the economy, and elevated bond yields persist as a concern.

For the afternoon session, the index is expected to move within a narrow range, with support seen at 1,555 points and resistance at 1,570 points.

The top five securities by trading value are as follows:
