Market Roundup 5 October 2026

Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,576.45 points, increasing by 4.83 points or 0.31%, with a trading value of THB 55.04 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market edged up despite weaker-than-expected U.S. nonfarm payrolls data, as elevated bond yields continue to weigh on market sentiment.

The analyst added that concerns over geopolitical tensions, oil prices, and supply-side bond pressure have contributed to the Treasury yields upward momentum.

For tomorrow, the analyst expects the Thai market to potentially rebound, but in a consolidatory manner due to a lack of fresh drivers.

The Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa has attracted 12,010 high-potential foreigners to Thailand in four years, generating approximately $1.28 billion in economic value. The visa is a key mechanism for attracting executives and highly skilled personnel for future industries while increasing purchasing power and stimulating domestic spending and economic activity.
