BGRIM Accelerates Digital Hub Vision With 250MW New Data Center Investment

The rapid surge in demand for artificial intelligence and cloud computing has propelled data centers into the spotlight across Southeast Asia. As countries in the region compete to become premier digital infrastructure destinations, Thailand has emerged as a prime contender, with both the government and private sector moving decisively to cement the country’s place as a regional hub.

Central to this ambition is B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (SET: BGRIM), a company with deep roots in Thailand’s history as a leader in clean energy production. Traditionally known for its significant investments and advancements in renewable energy, BGRIM embraces digitalization, transforming into a comprehensive Digital Infrastructure-as-a-Service (DIaaS) provider that combines digital innovation with its core strengths to support the journey toward net zero. Meanwhile, the company will capitalize on surging demand for AI services.

Though BGRIM still serves as a leading clean energy producer, the company has taken a major step last year in a strategic acceleration into tech through data center investments. Its joint venture with Digital Edge, a Singapore-based infrastructure specialist, marks a pivotal milestone. Together, they are developing a 96MW data center set to launch by the end of this year.

The primary goal of locating the Digital Edge B.Grimm data center (BKK Campus) within Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is to position Thailand as a premier regional digital hub in Southeast Asia.

More significantly, BGRIM recently announced plans to invest in a 250MW data center project with a new international partner, signaling enhanced ambition and capacity targets of 500MW in data centers by 2030, according to Bloomberg, citing Chairman Dr. Harald Link’s remarks at the Forbes Global CEO Conference in Singapore. The company is also exploring expansion opportunities in South Korea and Japan, with a targeted capacity of 200MW.

This expansion is more than just business diversification. The company’s message is clear—it is no longer just a power producer or healthcare player but a forward-thinking, tech-driven organization positioned at the confluence of energy and digital transformation.

Still, BGRIM’s green journey, dubbed the ‘Green Leap’ strategy, remains on track with plans to double its power generation capacity to 10,000MW by 2030. This commitment to sustainable energy serves as a strong foundation as the company pivots toward integrating technology, underscoring its value proposition for powering and greening the digital age.

With the Thai government rolling out incentives and tax breaks to attract data center investment, BGRIM is seizing the momentum, poised to play a key leadership role in Thailand’s rise as a digital economy powerhouse. The convergence of clean energy expertise and technology infrastructure development positions BGRIM as a critical enabler in the nation’s vision to become an AI and data center hub, both domestically and globally.
