US Futures Mixed as AI-Linked Names Retreat in Pre-Market Trade

U.S. equity futures showed no clear direction Tuesday, as renewed weakness in artificial intelligence-related shares weighed on technology sentiment before the market opened. The moves came after a broadly positive Wall Street session, keeping investor attention on whether the recent rebound in growth stocks can hold.

At 4:42 p.m. (Bangkok Time), contracts tied to the S&P 500 were little changed, while Nasdaq-100 futures declined 0.37%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.27%, suggesting relatively stronger demand for blue-chip exposure.

Technology shares had recovered in the prior regular session. The S&P 500 finished 0.41% higher, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.11%, while the Dow slipped 0.07%. Nvidia gained 1.4%, Tesla advanced 3.8%, and Alphabet rose about 1%.

That bounce followed the sharpest weekly losses for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq since late June. Concerns tied to inflation, elevated borrowing costs, and the expense of funding AI infrastructure had recently pressured technology shares.

Premarket trading Tuesday showed that appetite for some AI infrastructure-related stocks remained fragile. Micron fell 2.6%, Intel lost 1.2%, and Qualcomm edged down 0.87%.

Investors will also assess another round of company results. General Motors is scheduled to release earnings ahead of the opening bell, while United Airlines is expected to report after trading ends.

Economic releases due Tuesday include housing starts and pending home sales data.
