Market Roundup 26 October 2026

Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,579.03 points, increasing by 16.36 points or 0.42%, with a trading value of THB 63.53 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market continued to outperform its regional peers, which were pressured by uncertainties over the Middle East situation.

Domestically, the Thai market was supported by energy stocks linked to oil prices. Additionally, buying interest in the banking and tourism sector, as well as DELTA, also contributed to broader market gains.

For tomorrow, the analyst expects the Thai market to move sideways within range.

Thailand’s exports rose 24% year-on-year to a record-related value of US$38.44 billion (THB1.25 trillion) in September 2026, extending their growth streak to 27 consecutive months.

Excluding oil-related products, gold and military equipment, exports expanded 28.2%, driven primarily by accelerating shipments of electronics. As a participant in global electronics supply chains, Thailand has benefited from rising demand for the sector.

South Korean equities retreated more than 40% from its June high as investors questioned whether artificial intelligence spending could be sustained. The losses come ahead of earnings releases from SK Hynix and Samsung. Both companies are entering the reporting week with surging profits, but concerns about AI expenditure put pressure on their stock valuations.

Goldman Sachs has replaced its 12,000 Kospi forecast with a 9,000 target. The reduction stems from lower valuation assumptions rather than a forecast of sharply deteriorating earnings.

Investors are seeking opportunities to shift money from Indonesia into Thailand, with banks retaining support and utilities attracting fresh interest.

Investors generally remained positive on banks despite subdued loan growth, viewing healthy dividend yields as a cushion against downside risks. Meanwhile, utilities emerged as a key area of prospective buying interest, supported by expectations that the Power Development Plan 2026 would be approved by the fourth quarter of 2026.
