China Pledges to Buy 500,000 Tons of Thai Rice after Royal Visit by King Maha Vajiralongkorn

While accompanying King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida on their official visit to China, Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had announced on his personal Facebook page in Thai that Chinese President Xi Jinping has stated that China will buy 500,000 tons of Thai rice.

Their Majesties the King and Queen, along with the Thai delegation including Prime Minister Anutin, are on an official visit to China from November 13 to 17, 2025. Today (November 14), President Xi welcomed Their Majesties and delegation with an elaborate ceremony.

Earlier, on October 31, 2025, Prime Minister Anutin met with President Xi on the sidelines of the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in South Korea. During that meeting, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the government spokesperson, filmed a video of Prime Minister Anutin talking with the Chinese leader, asking him to not forget purchasing the Thai rice. The video was subsequently posted to Mr. Siripong’s personal Facebook page.
