At the ‘Thailand Focus 2026’ event, organized by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI), offered an in-depth perspective on Thailand’s economic direction and emerging opportunities for global investors.
Mr. Narit outlined Thailand’s strategy to propel itself as a regional investment hub, emphasizing the government’s commitment to reform and modernization. He detailed new BOI initiatives—including comprehensive tax incentives, streamlined regulations, and a specific focus on high-tech industries such as digital technology, electronics, electric vehicles, and sustainable biotech. These steps, he noted, are designed to make Thailand more competitive and appealing for both new and existing international investors.
Mr. Narit further emphasized that the next major wave of investment in Thailand will be centered around the AI supply chain, with particular attention to the advanced semiconductor sector, which is poised to become a critical industry for the nation. The BOI is currently formulating a National Semiconductor Strategy, expected to be unveiled this year, which will provide a clear framework to attract substantial investment into the semiconductor field.
To support future industry needs, the government is prioritizing the rapid development of local talent while easing visa requirements to bring in global experts as well. This comprehensive approach aims to elevate Thailand’s manufacturing capabilities and ensure that the country is fully prepared to engage with global industry leaders in the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem.
“Thailand’s stability, robust workforce, and infrastructure ensure it is well-placed as an investment alternative to regional peers,” Mr. Narit said, reinforcing the government’s consistent and investor-friendly policies. He highlighted ongoing improvements in logistics and upgrades across the country’s industrial base, which further strengthen Thailand’s key position within Southeast Asia’s supply chains.
Mr. Narit’s leadership at the BOI has brought significant change, from proactive outreach campaigns to fast-tracking approvals for strategic investments. He stressed that in a world marked by geopolitical and economic volatility, Thailand offers rare certainty for multinational corporations seeking regional headquarters or production bases.
Thailand is not only consolidating its traditional economic strengths but is also rapidly advancing into new industries. This vision, shared at ‘Thailand Focus 2026,’ affirms the country’s determination to become a primary destination for global investment in the years ahead.
