MINT Chairman Urges Government to Cancel Thailand Pass and Test&Go Scheme

Thailand’s leading hotel chain Minor International Plc. (SET: MINT) chairman William E. Heinecke on Monday again sent an open letter to prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, urging to cancel the Thailand Pass and Test and Go program in order to recover the tourism industry and restore traveler confidence from the pandemic.

The chairman of MINT stated in the letter that despite the cancellation of pre-travel COVID-19 testing, foreign visitors to Thailand are still required to complete an unnecessary series of steps, including pre-booking RT-PCR tests, prepaid one-night hotel accommodations, and health insurance, in order to secure a visa and/or Thailand Pass.

MINT chairman suggested that Thailand should immediately remove the Thailand Pass pre-approval system, insurance requirements, and any post-arrival COVID-19 tests in order to revive the tourism sector and encourage foreign tourists visiting Thailand.
