BEM Announces 2022 Profit of THB2.4 Billion, Up 141% as Passenger Traffic Surges

Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (SET: BEM) has announced its 2022 consolidated financial statement through the Stock Exchange of Thailand as follows;

For the year 2022, BEM’s net profit was in the amount of Baht 2,436 Million, representing an increase from the previous year by Baht 1,426 Million or 141.2%. 

As the pandemic situation improved and the government declared the Covid19 a “communicable disease under surveillance,” the country’s travel volume rebounded, resulting in an increase of approximately 22.4% and 84.5% in Expressway users and Metro passengers in 2022, respectively, from the previous year.

Revenue from main business amounted to Baht 14,030 Million representing an increase from the previous year by Baht 3,304 Million or 30.8%. Toll revenue increased by Baht 1,742 Million, revenue from Rail business increased by Baht 1,463 Million and revenue from Commercial Development business increased by Baht 99 Million.

Cost of service amounted to Baht 8,447 Million representing an increase from the previous year by Baht 1,458 Million or 20.9% from maintenance cost of the Expressway and MRT. Moreover, amortization costs increased in accordance with the number of vehicles and passengers’ volume. Administrative expenses amounted to Baht 1,160 Million which was almost the same as previous year. 

The Board of Directors on Wednesday approved a dividend payout of THB 0.12 per share to be paid on 3 May 2023. The ex-dividend date is 8 March 2023.
