On June 2, 2025, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan paid a private visit to Stonehill Golf Course in Pathum Thani Province. He was welcomed by Mr. Sarath Ratanavadi, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Development Public Company Limited (SET: GULF).
About Stonehill
Stonehill Golf Club, located in Pathum Thani just north of Bangkok, is a premier golfing destination in Thailand, envisioned and developed by Sarath Ratanavadi, CEO of Gulf Development, alongside his son Saris “Ing” Ratanavadi, who serves as the club’s executive director.
Vision and Development
The Ratanavadis aimed to create a world-class golf facility that would elevate Thailand’s presence in international golf and sports tourism. Their goal was to establish a venue capable of hosting major tournaments while offering top-tier hospitality and amenities.
Design and Architecture
With a total yardage of 7,861, Par 72, Stonehill promises a juxtaposed experience of challenge and enjoyment with fast and firm conditions using the latest certified turf grass varieties. The course was designed by renowned golf course architect Kyle Phillips, known for projects like Kingsbarns in Scotland and South Cape in Korea. The course features wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and water hazards that come into play on several holes. The clubhouse, designed by Timothy Slattery of Hart Howerton, blends modern and traditional elements, incorporating materials such as imported Italian limestone and Thai teak wood.
