The board of directors of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in a special meeting on August 5, 2025, resolved to reappoint Professor Kitipong Urapeepatanapong as the chairman of the SET for another term, effective from August 5, 2025 onwards.
Professor Kitipong Urapeepatanapong is widely recognized for his extensive expertise and experience across both capital and money markets, with a strong legal background. During his previous tenure as chairman, he spearheaded several critical initiatives. These include revising and enhancing regulations governing trading and investor protection, promoting access to capital for family businesses through the capital market mechanisms, and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to elevate capital market development and adapt to the rapidly evolving financial landscape.
Furthermore, Professor Kitipong played a pivotal role in supporting initiatives to create additional value for listed companies through the Jump+ program, strengthening corporate governance, enhancing transparency, and fostering robust legal enforcement by facilitating collaboration between related justice system agencies. These efforts were instrumental in building greater trust and confidence in the Thai capital market.
Since 2014, Professor Kitipong has served several terms as a SET board member, with this new appointment marking his fifth term.
His educational background is notably distinguished: Bachelor of Laws (Honors) from Chulalongkorn University, Master of Laws from Chulalongkorn University, Barrister-at-Law (Thailand) from the Institute of Legal Education of the Thai Bar Association (29th intake), Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of British Columbia, Canada, National Defense College Certificate (Class 48) from the National Defense College, and an Honorary Doctorate in Law (Academic) from Hatyai University. In addition to his work with the SET, Professor Kitipong currently holds key positions in various governmental and private sector organizations.
