SET Index Slips on Lackluster Sentiment and Tepid Economic Outlook

Mr. Narongdach Juntarapaisarn, Director of Investment Strategist at AIRA Securities, stated that the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index closed the morning session lower by 0.45%, or 5.63 points, at 1,236.57 points due to the lack of new factors and the ongoing pressure on the hospital sector from insurance companies shifting to the Co-Payment system.

Additionally, the retail and finance sectors, especially CPALL, also dropped from the lack of recovery in domestic purchasing power.

Amid the approaching announcement of the 4Q25 earnings results for listed companies, Thailand’s overall economic outlook remains weak. It is expected that GDP growth in 4Q25 will be less than 1%.

The analyst noted that only two sectors, including banks and ICT, helped pare the market’s losses, though the support is limited as stock valuation has started to tighten, while pressure also emerged from a decline in DELTA, dragging the index down by 1-2 points.

Regarding the election, it is not expected to significantly support the stock market since the political landscape remains unchanged, likely preventing an Election Rally. The SET Index has an important support level at 1,230 points, with downside risks potentially rising should the market fall below the mark.

For the afternoon trading outlook, the market is likely to swing sideways and remain in negative territory. Support is given at 1,230 points, with resistance at 1,240 points.
