NEX and AAB Welcome BMTA Delegation to Reaffirms Electric Bus Manufacturing Readiness

NEX Point Public Company Limited (SET: NEX), together with Absolute Assembly Company Limited (AAB), a company within the Energy Absolute Public Company Limited (SET: EA) Group, welcomed a delegation from the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to AAB’s manufacturing facility in Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province, on 13 August 2026. During the visit, the delegation received an overview of the facility’s electric bus manufacturing and assembly capabilities, quality control processes, and spare parts and maintenance services.

The visit was related to BMTA’s project to lease 1,520 air-conditioned clean-energy public buses, with NEX and AAB supporting vehicle sourcing. All 1,520 electric buses to be delivered to Nakhonchai Air Company Limited, BMTA’s direct contractual counterparty, for deployment in BMTA’s public bus operations will be manufactured and assembled in Thailand under manufacturing and assembly processes governed by an internationally recognised quality management system.

NEX commends BMTA’s vision and commitment to advancing the clean-energy bus project, which represents an important step towards enhancing Thailand’s public transport system. The project will help improve the quality of public transport services, reduce environmental impacts, support Thailand’s transition towards a low-carbon society, and create further momentum for the domestic commercial electric vehicle industry.

AAB was established in 2020 through collaboration between the EA Group and NEX and commenced commercial production in 2021. Production for this project is expected to involve a workforce of more than 800 people, the majority of whom will be Thai. The facility covers an area of more than 55,000 square metres, represents a total investment of over THB 2 billion, and has a maximum production capacity of approximately 3,000–9,000 vehicles per year, depending on the type and complexity of the vehicles manufactured.

AAB is Thailand’s first and only fully integrated commercial electric vehicle manufacturer, with the capability to manufacture and assemble a broad range of vehicles, including city buses, coaches, minibuses, vans, pickup trucks, cargo trucks, tractor units, and special-purpose electric vehicles.

The AAB facility is certified to ISO 9001:2015 for the manufacture of commercial electric vehicles and incorporates modern production technologies, including high-precision Plasma Laser Cutting, Jig Fixture systems for forming and structural assembly, Electro-Deposition Painting (EDP) for corrosion protection, and robotic paint systems.

Mr. Vasu Klomkliang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEX Point Public Company Limited, said: “The BMTA delegation’s visit provides an important opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of a Thai manufacturing facility with extensive experience in the manufacture and assembly of commercial electric vehicles. We have the people, engineering processes, production technologies, and quality control systems required to support a large-scale public transport project.

The electric buses for this project will be manufactured and assembled in Thailand through processes governed by an internationally recognised quality management system. The true strength of this project lies not only in the facility itself, but also in the engineering knowledge and experience that Thai personnel have accumulated over the years. Maintaining domestic capabilities in manufacturing, quality inspection, and vehicle maintenance will help advance knowledge and technology, sustain skilled employment, and strengthen Thailand’s supply chain. This is a source of pride for AAB and NEX employees, as well as for Thailand as a whole, as it demonstrates the country’s ability to support a major commercial electric vehicle project.”

NEX also plays an important role in spare parts supply, technical support, and maintenance through NEX Autopro Company Limited. NEX Autopro provides comprehensive electric bus maintenance and spare parts services for buses of various sizes, supported by a dedicated spare parts warehouse, skilled technicians, and scheduled maintenance programmes to help minimise vehicle downtime.

NEX’s commercial vehicle portfolio covers both passenger and cargo transport, including passenger vans, minibuses, city buses, coaches, pickup trucks, large multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), cargo vans, trucks, and tractor units. The portfolio also includes special-purpose vehicles such as dump trucks, concrete mixers, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, and water-spraying trucks, serving the diverse requirements of government agencies, transport operators, logistics businesses, and industrial customers.

This comprehensive capability reflects NEX’s fully integrated commercial vehicle ecosystem, spanning product selection and development, manufacturing and assembly through AAB, distribution, and after-sales services through NEX Autopro. It also aligns with NEX’s mission to operate a fully integrated commercial vehicle business, lead innovation in Thailand, develop its people and the quality of its work, and contribute positively to society through a sincere commitment to service.
