On Tuesday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,617.83 points, showing a decrease of 0.99 points or 0.06%, with a trading value of THB 34.92 billion.
Kasikorn Securities (KS) stated that the Thai stock market showed range-bound movements during the morning session, as investors grew increasingly concerned over the situation in the Middle East amid persistent uncertainties surrounding the region.
Crude oil prices continued to climb, providing positive momentum for the domestic market given the significant weighting of oil-related stocks on the index, which helped prevent a steep market decline.
Meanwhile, profit-taking pressure was observed in stocks that experienced substantial gains in the previous session. Additionally, the gradual ex-dividend (XD) status in some banking shares weighed further on the index. There were no new major factors influencing the market, while participants awaited the upcoming release of U.S. inflation data for August later this week.
For the afternoon session, market sentiment is expected to remain in a sideways pattern, with resistance seen at 1,620–1,625 points and support at 1,600–1,605 points.
