Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Public Company Limited (SET: BAFS) has announced via the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) regarding the oil spill incident at Thanon Chuea Phloeng beneath the Rama III elevated road, with the details as follows:
Regarding the situation in which oil leakage was detected on Chuea Phloeng Road, under the Rama III elevated Road area, at approximately evening on 8 September 2026.
BAFS noted that its subsidiary, BAFS Pipeline Transportation Company Limited (BPT), owns the oil pipeline transportation system running from the Bangchak Oil Refinery to the Chong Nonsi Oil Depot, and continuing along the pipeline route to the Don Mueang Aviation Fuel Depot, Suvarnabhumi Aviation Fuel Depot and further to the Bang Pa-in Ground Fuel Depot, a pipeline route which passes through the area where the incident occurred. BPT has granted the right to use and manage the assets of this pipeline system, in exchange for compensation, to Bangkok Fuel Pipeline Transportation and Logistics Company Limited (BFPL), effective from 1 January 2022.
Upon detection of the oil leakage, the transportation of oil through the said pipeline system was immediately halted. At present, no severe impact on the public, surrounding communities, or the environment has been observed. BPT and BFPL have been working closely together to inspect and locate the leak point, in order to resolve the incident as urgently as possible, with the safety of the public and communities as the top priority.
Furthermore, as a result of this incident, BAFS understands that all oil companies transporting fuel via pipeline are still able to manage their oil transportation operations, and there has been no impact on the transportation of aviation fuel to either Don Mueang Airport or Suvarnabhumi Airport, nor on the inland transportation of oil to the northern region. As for insurance matters, the incident remains covered under the insurance policies held by BPT and BFPL.
BAFS places great importance on providing services that are safe, uninterrupted, and of the highest standard. The company continues to closely monitor and follow up on the situation and will provide further information to the Stock Exchange of Thailand should there be any progress that may have a significant impact in the future.
