Market Roundup 2 October 2026

Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,571.62 points, increasing by 7.71 points or 0.49%, with a trading value of THB 71.08 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market technically rebounded after having sharply plunged in previous sessions, with additional support from Cover Short actions.

However, the upside remains limited due to elevated bond yields, the analyst noted, with investors closely monitoring tonight’s U.S. nonfarm payrolls report.

Currently, foreign capitals are flowing toward lower-risk U.S. Treasury notes, as the yields—currently more than 5%—provide a more attractive option compared to Thai stocks that are awaiting 3Q26 earnings results.

For next week, the analyst expects the Thai market to move sideways.

South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) plans to let securities analysts withhold their names from published research and introduce minimum coverage requirements for smaller companies. The proposals aim to make sell recommendations easier to issue, strengthen research independence and expand information available to investors beyond large-cap stocks.
