Kasikorn Reports THB12.7 Billion of Net Profit in 3Q26 with NII Surge and Strong Coverage Buffer

Kasikornbank Public Company Limited (SET: KBANK) reported a modest year-over-year decline in earnings for the third quarter of 2026, navigating a lower interest rate environment while strengthening its balance sheet buffers.

Kasikornbank’s net profit attributable to equity holders reached 12,720 million baht in 3Q26, down 2.21% compared to 13,007 million baht recorded in 3Q25. The bank’s total net operating income slipped 3.26% year-over-year to 47,641 million baht, down from 49,246 million baht in the corresponding period of 2025.

The primary pressure on revenue stemmed from net interest income (NII), which fell 7.48% year-over-year to 31,602 million baht from 34,158 million baht in 3Q25. This contraction was largely driven by downward interest rate trends and bank interest rate reductions aimed at helping relieve customers’ financial burdens. Consequently, the net interest margin (NIM) compressed to 2.89% in 3Q26, down from 3.24% in 3Q25.

Offsetting some of the top-line margin compression, non-interest income rose 6.30% year-over-year to 16,039 million baht from 15,088 million baht in 3Q25. This growth was bolstered by net fees and service income, which grew 5.50% to 9,841 million baht due to expanded wealth and fund management services.

On the balance sheet side, total loans to customers grew 6.25% year-over-year to 2,566,588 million baht as of September 30, 2026, driven primarily by corporate business loan expansion.

Demonstrating operational efficiency, other operating expenses dropped 5.12% year-over-year to 19,892 million baht thanks to productivity initiatives, bringing the cost-to-income ratio down to 41.75%. Expected credit loss (ECL) provisions increased slightly by 1.47% year-over-year to 10,329 million baht, while credit cost remained stable at 1.61%. Meanwhile, the gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio improved slightly to 3.18% from 3.19% in 3Q25, and the NPL coverage ratio surged to 177.90%, offering a strong defensive cushion.
