General Natthaphon Nakpanich, Minister of Defence, announced after the meeting of the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) in Chanthaburi Province today (December 27, 2025) that, in this GBC meeting, a Joint Statement between Thailand and Cambodia was issued as a core principle for resolving bilateral issues between the two countries. Both sides have agreed on key measures as follows:
- Both parties are to cease fire effective from 12:00 p.m. today.
- Both sides will maintain their current military forces in the area, with no movement or reinforcement allowed.
- There shall be no further attacks or provocations by either party.
- Ceasefire monitoring is to be conducted for 72 hours to affirm that the ceasefire is upheld and sustained.
- Once the situation stabilizes, civilians will be allowed to return to their homes safely. Subsequently, 18 Cambodian soldiers will be released in accordance with international standards, which stipulate that releases occur after the end of hostilities.
