Probe Finds No Contaminated Fuel as OR Fends Off Allegations

M.L. Peekthong Thongyai, Chief Executive Officer of PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (SET: OR), made a clarification regarding the incident on June 3.

The case occurred when a customer came to a PTT Station on Srinagarindra Road to fill up with Gasohol 95 before returning and reporting contaminated fuel with water.

After receiving the report, the company began a close examination. The inspection started at the oil dispenser before moving to the storage tank, the place where water will gather if it was mixed. OR then used Automatic Tank Gauge to examine the tank again. This equipment has a high accuracy rate when used to detect any water mixed within the tank. However, the test results from all examinations found no water mixing in the fuel.

Furthermore, during the time around the incident, 129 vehicles came to the station and filled up at a total of 813 liters. None of them reported any irregularity. The mobile lab also inspected the quality of Gasohol 95 in the dispenser and the underground storage on June 4. Results showed that fuel quality is up to its usual standard.

M.L. Peekthong stated that OR is prioritizing the oil quality the company distributes to customers, using strict and coverage control systems from the refinery to the dispensing process across every station. Therefore, the company is confident in the quality of its fuel.

OR also filed a complaint with the police to prosecute those who spread misinformation that defame the company’s image and reputation.
